Door entry phones and video intercoms
Most Prague apartment blocks still have two-wire systems from the 1980s. They work until they don't: and spare parts are harder to find every year.
What is actually addressed during replacement
The decision is not about "which brand", but this:
| Question | What follows from this |
|---|---|
| Will the old wiring remain? | With IP systems, almost never. New cabling requires grooves, wall penetrations and plastering, two-thirds of the job's cost. |
| Video monitor or just a doorbell? | Calls to the mobile app work only where a physical monitor is installed. Flats without a monitor will not have a doorbell on their phone, let's be clear about this beforehand, not after installation. |
| How many entrances and buildings? | The modular panel handles multiple entrances and connects two buildings under a single owners' association. |
| Who will manage the nameplates? | For illuminated nameplates, the paper insert is replaced; for display units, the data is updated from the website. The difference is noticeable when tenants change frequently. |
What we supply
- Entrance panel - modular, with camera, keypad and chip reader, for flush mounting in a frame under plaster.
- Video intercom in the apartment - touch screen, 7", with image capture capability for missed calls
- Electric lock with self-closing mechanism and exit button
- Complete cabling including cutting, penetrations, fire stoppings and masonry finishing
- Training and handover - as-built documentation, access routes, inspections
Questions to ask every supplier: Who will install fire stopping for floor penetrations, who will provide the initial electrical inspection, and how doors will open from the inside during a power outage. If they cannot answer these questions, neither can their budget.
What is the cost
The price is determined mainly by the construction work, not the technology. In a building where an existing route can be used, it costs only a fraction of a building where 120 metres of grooves need to be cut. That is why we do not send a price list. We will visit for a site inspection, measure the routes and within five working days send you a quotation with a line-item breakdown showing the technology, labour and masonry finishing separately.
We will determine what your building needs.
The inspection is non-binding. We will also tell you straight away what you do not need to do.
